History: Came to New York in 1979 with stepfather shortly after her mother died. Stepfather couldn't hold down a job and drank heavily, taking out his frustrations on Eva, who was 12 at the time. One night he attacked her with a knife, cutting open her back; she reacted by shooting him several times with his own revolver. She then vanished off the map, despite attempts by the vigilante Rorschach to find her. Three years later, news came of a black-clad assassin-type vigilante who sliced up a man who molested his four-year-old daughter. Eva had returned to New York and brought an unquenchable thirst for revenge with her.

Personality: Varies; she may have split personalities that developed when she was in her preteens. When calm and collected, can be sociable and interact naturally with humans, except retaining a dislike for the male sex. When hunting prey or in a frenzy, becomes unpredictable and usually focuses all of her pent-up rage on the object of the hunt. In short, she is a serial killer who kills those who she deems "monsters", generally men who remind her of her father, people who harm children, or criminals in general. Sometimes she cannot remember her true name and will answer only to "Nevermore", a disturbing sign of a split personality. Eva has thoughts and emotions and a conscience; Nevermore has only the pure hatred of a wounded, vengeful child.

Friends/associates: She is eccentric and does not have many friends, though she does know a few fellow poets and artists who she sometimes dines with. In the vigilante community, she has made contact multiple times with Rorschach, who views her as a potential threat to society, but allows her to work unhindered… for now. In actuality, he harbors some guilt for not acting sooner when he knew her father was abusing her back in '79.
