'Duchess'

Very old Treasure Planet OC, now with new and improved characterization and a whopping huge fanfic planned for NaNoWriMo. Yey. Her name's Kate Phillips and she does a lot of the above - looking freaked out - but she can hold her own, at least as much as is necessary. She's a historian who's never been to space in her life, taking a much-needed vacation aboard the luxury liner Iron Rose to get away from constricting circumstances back home on the planet Asterfeld. Bound for Montressor spaceport, Kate's looking forward to rest and relaxation, but gets more than she bargained for from the Iron Rose...

She's also not a duchess, but the nickname stuck, at first to her great annoyance.
